This Sunday, July 12th, we are excited to welcome, Rev. Gray Clark to the pulpit.

Becoming A Healthier Church: A Congregational Learning and Listening Process   Becoming a Healthier Church is a congregational learning and listening process designed to help us reflect on who we are, how we relate to one another, and how we can prepare faithfully for future pastoral leadership. Several gatherings are being scheduled that will each include a brief teaching component on congregational health, followed by guided reflection and structured listening. The purpose is not to debate or assign blame, but to help us become more thoughtful, less reactive, more connected, and more open to God’s future for our church. This is not a town hall meeting, or a complaint session or a decision making meeting. It is a spiritual and relational process intended to help our church listen, reflect, and mature together. We are invited to speak from our own experience, listen without correcting others, and consider our own part in the health of our congregation. Each active participant in the life of Community in Christ is invited to sign up for one gathering. Gatherings are being limited to 15 participants. Work is in progress to create a sign up structure. Check Tidings and email next week to learn what to do. A variety of opportunities for participation are being provided in August. This is one of the steps in our process under Presbytery guidelines that will not only benefit us as a congregation but also move us closer to selection of our Pastor Nominating Committee. Reverend Kent Berry from High Point Family Therapy Services at Forest Hills Presbyterian Church in HIgh Point will be guiding us in this process. He often works with congregations in transition.   Begin to consider your personal calendars. Dates for gatherings are below. What Is Your Prayer for America? As we commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, we invite you to share your prayer for our nation. Prayer cards are available in a basket in the narthex. Please write your prayer and leave it in the basket to be added to the prayer board in the hallway.

How You Can Help with Vacation Bible School

Snowball Mountain Challenge VBS Starts Tomorrow! Thank you very much to everyone who helped decorate for Vacation Bible School and create a festive welcome for our Challengers! We need to move chairs and set up tables for VBS following worship this Sunday. Please help if you are able. We greatly appreciate any time you can give!   How You Can Help with Vacation Bible School   Pray! One of our “Lift Lessons” at Snowball Mountain Challenge is, “I can pray!” Please pray for our volunteers, children, and families.   Bring your change for GUM! Please take a medicine bottle (available in the narthex) and bring it back filled with change to help feed families through Greensboro Urban Ministry.

Mary Jenet Penrod (Sep 29, 1931 — Apr 14, 2026)   Dear Friends,   It is with a mix of sadness and gratitude that I share the obituary for my dear mother, Mary Jenet Penrod. She passed peacefully on April 14, 2026, at the age of 94. Mom lived a remarkable life full of faith, love, service, and dedication to her family, students, and community. She touched so many lives, and we are truly blessed to have had her as our mother.   Use the purple bar below to view her full obituary online.   We will share details about the celebration of her life as soon as they are set. In the meantime, please keep our family in your prayers. Mom always cherished her time at our church and the many dear friendships she made over the years. Mary Jenet Penrod Obituary

Registration for the 2026-27 School year for the CIC Preschool is still open. Our quality program for children ages one through Pre-K operates Monday - Friday from 9am until 1pm September through May. Families may choose three days or five days a week for children from ages one to three. The Pre-K class is five days a week. There will be registration packets at both entrances of the Church.  Please be reminded that CIC Active Church Members receive a 10% discount.  If you have questions, you may contact Lynn Crabtree at  preschool@cicpres.com or 336-674-1050.
