A word from your Salem Presbytery “Comission on Ministry (aka COM) Connector” Your transition team has been diligently working to find a transition pastor! Bobbie even had a placard she carried around at Presbytery in February, publishing your need for a Transitional Pastor. Just so happens that the timing for finding a Transitional Pastor has not been good. We (the Transitions in Ministry Task Force of the Commission on Ministry), have no free Transitional Pastors within Salem Presbytery, during this timespan from January until now, which is unusual. Two have just taken a new position, one is in the midst of the transitional process, three are ministering some long-term situations, one was called to be an installed pastor, and one just retired. If that changes your Transition Team will be there first to know. As your Salem Presbytery COM “Connector” I gave Bobbie three or four names. One of the names we gave your committee was a pastor who changed her mind about moving up to North Carolina from Florida, two were from nearby Presbyteries and they took jobs closer to their home and one is in a discernment process, so is unable to be a possibility at this time. So, none of them worked out, but that was not because your Transition Team was not trying in every way to work alongside us. They are naturally disheartened, so please pray for them as you all seek God’s guidance for your congregation. We, the Task Force, are still actively seeking someone else who might be able to serve you, but please be patient in this process. It is not unlike being in the wilderness and waiting for what seems like forever. And, when we don’t know what the future holds, we get anxious and we worry. Many congregations find this time between installed pastors to be very difficult and taxing. Please know that we are also exploring other options with your Transition Team as well. Ask your Transition Team if there is any way to share the load of getting pastors to preach during this time (or the worship committee). Find out who might need some TLC or extra help since some members end up carrying the burden during this time as you seek to love and encourage one another. May Christ’s promised Easter blessings of Peace and Joy be and abide with you all. And may the Holy Sprit encourage you all! Yours in Christ, Rev. Lisa Florence Mullen Salem Presbytery Connector |

Dear CIC Family, We want to share some wonderful news with everyone who has been cheering James and our robotics team on throughout the season! Team 7890 SeQuEnCe has officially qualified for the FIRST Robotics World Championship in Houston, Texas, happening April 29 – May 2. This is a huge milestone for our small community team — one of only 15 teams from all of North Carolina selected to compete at the world level. James and the team have worked incredibly hard, and we’re so grateful for all the encouragement and support from our church family along the way. If you’d like to help support the team as we prepare for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, we’ve set up a fundraising page. Any donation, large or small, would mean a lot and directly help with travel and expenses. Here’s the link: http://bit.ly/4tcN5ME Thank you again for all your prayers, encouragement, and support. It truly means the world to James and the entire SeQuEnCe team! Gratefully, Jim & Laura Penrod (and the whole SeQuEnCe Team 7890) |

*!! NOTICE !!* We need volunteers to be part of the "magic" that happens on Sundays with zoom, FaceBook streaming, sound system management, and slide operations! To help pop that bubble of mystery, a step-by-step manual is slowly in the making as a reliable reference. So be fearless and step up to the technology plate and join the Tech Deacon team! (Btw, rumor has it that this is not rocket science!) If interested, see Worship chair Mollie Davenport, or Tech Deacons Jared Penrod, Jim Penrod, and Petko Novosad to add your name to this illustrious group! |
