At the December 14, 2025 meeting of CIC Session a Transition Team was appointed who will: seek candidates for a Transitional Pastor, conduct interviews for the position, recommend a candidate to the Session for hiring, and work with the Transitional Pastor to compose a Mission Study for use in securing the next Installed Pastor of CIC.

Preparing for retirement is a lot of work not only for the one retiring, but also for the church a pastor is leaving. I am so very grateful that God crossed our paths for transitional ministry in 2019 and then for Installed ministry. We have had a rich, challenging, and event-filled six years together. The Holy Spirit had already intersected our lives and ministries in 1999 when I met Jim Rissmiller who served on the committee who brought me to UNCG Presbyterian Campus Ministry. I have known about and loved every moment I have spent at CIC through more than 25 years. I am especially grateful to God for the last 6+ years to serve as your Pastor. We faced challenges, made important adaptations, and remained faithful to the vision that the Charter members had back in the late 60s when CIC emerged as a New Church Development. As I retire it is important for the next phase of not only CIC's ministry, but also for whoever God calls to serve here in pastoral leadership. With that in mind, the Session and I will be signing a covenant that is provided by Salem Presbytery. I encourage all of you to read and understand this POLICY REGARDING THE RELATIONSHIP OF RETIRED MINISTERS AND THEIR FORMER CONGREGATIONS.
It is crucial for the effectiveness of CIC's continued ministry here in SE Guilford County AND for your next minister for there to be full and easy access to the ongoing ministry and mission of CIC without any interference from me. Please click HERE for this policy and know that I am ever in prayer for the ministry of this Community In Christ. For all you have meant to me and my family: thank you! Please know that you are loved & blessed, Pastor Bryan |

To lessen any angst about who will lead CIC's Sunday worship in the new year, we have commitments for every Sunday in January, February, and March! It will be a return to CIC Pulpit Supply for a few, but most will be new to us. With that said, we have the opportunity to show how warm and welcoming this church family is! The complete list will be available in January's newsletter. |

As the year wanes and we celebrate holidays and holy days, I encourage you to share your Star Word with CIC. More than a handful of you have told me how important and impactful your Star Word became as 2025 progressed. Whether or not you want to tell CIC about your word sometime during worship, I invite you to add your word to the pulpit as shown in the photo. Let's fill the pulpit with the meaning and challenge God brought to our lives through our 2025 Star Words. Blessings, Pastor Bryan |
