As the year wanes and we celebrate holidays and holy days, I encourage you to share your Star Word with CIC. More than a handful of you have told me how important and impactful your Star Word became as 2025 progressed. Whether or not you want to tell CIC about your word sometime during worship, I invite you to add your word to the pulpit as shown in the photo. The Celebration of Life for MaryAnn Jensen is RE-SCHEDULED for 2pm on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Community In Christ, Presbyterian Chuck and MaryAnn's daughter, Kim died Monday night, November 3. Kim's funeral will be in SC in mid-November. Additionally, Chuck's daughter-in-law, Sherry Jensen, is facing her own mother's condition which is now extremely critical. Many of you fondly remember Sherry who served as CIC's office manager for seven years. Retirement Road Trip The Retirement Road Trip food collection is going well with a total of 595lbs donated. Lat week I met with Suzanne Bland , Director of Development, at Greensboro Urban Ministry. We discussed the CIC project and the most impacting way to handle our cash donations. It was an eye opening discussion. For every $1.00 we would spend buying food by making a $1.00 cash donation their purchasing captivity increases that purchase by 5. Do the math it is amazing how far the cash donations go . A $10 donation buys $50 of food.
Cash / checks can be put in the envelopes marked gum. Please make checks out to CIC with "retirement donation" on the memo line. You can also go to the GUM website select donate and you have the option to indicate that it be in honor of Bryan McFarland. Hurricane Melissa made landfall as a Category 5 storm in Jamaica on Tuesday, October 28th. The impact will require years of rebuilding. Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) is providing grants to address urgent, immediate needs, and will remain for the Long-Term Recovery to address unmet needs. Enrollment Openings Available at CIC Preschool Community in Christ Preschool has enrollment openings for the upcoming school year. Our quality program for children ages one through Pre-K operates Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. September through May. Families may choose three days or five days a week for children from ages one to three. The Pre-K class is five days a week. Please contact Preschool Director Lynn Crabtree at 336-674-1050 or preschool@cicpres.com for more information about this wonderful program. Registration forms are available in the narthex. |
