~ Update from Pastor Bryan ~ First of all, I am grateful to each of you for your prayers and concern. Secondly, I am grateful to the Session and other CIC leadership stepping in to adapt around my disability. I am now on Short Term Disability that is offered through the PCUSA. I continue to have constant nerve pain/pressure/numbness in the top of my left thigh and around the knee cap. This is from a herniated disc that will likely require surgery, but I am exhausting all therapeutic options (epidural steroid, chiropractic, acupuncture, etc.) before surgery. However, I am wrapping my head around the distinct possibility of needing surgery. I am able to walk around the house, even go to the store for short outings though I am not driving yet. I get exhausted very quickly and have found that sleeping in a recliner in zero gravity relieves pressure on my lower lumbar stenosis, but nothing touches the nerve pain/pressure/numbness in my left leg. I am eager to be on Zoom this week to see/hear VBS Sunday and the two Commissioning services as we send youth to Montreat as well youth and adults to the NC mountains assisting in recovery efforts after Hurricane Helene. It is evident how all of you are vibrant, authentic, excited, and faithful as a Community In Christ. Good on ya for always living into your name! Blessings from Pastor Bryan. |

Lifting Our Montreat Travelers in Prayer As a church family, we are blessed to walk alongside our youth as they grow in faith, build community, and explore their callings in Christ. Next week, we have the joy and privilege of sending a group of our youth and adult leaders to the Montreat Youth Conference—a week that will be filled with worship, spiritual growth, laughter, reflection, and meaningful fellowship with other young people from across the country. We invite you to keep these individuals in your prayers as they travel, learn, and experience God in new and powerful ways. Our Youth: John Ayers Noah Bodkin Travis Greeson Jayden Liggins Jazmyn Patrick Katie Stringer
Our Adult Leaders: Jennie Bodkin Christine McElvey Avery McElvey Suzanne Stringer
This trip to Montreat is more than just a getaway—it's a sacred opportunity to encounter God through music, Scripture, small groups, and the beauty of God’s creation. We know that for many, this week will be transformative. Seeds of faith will be planted and watered. Lifelong friendships will be formed. And hearts will be opened to God’s voice in ways that can shape their lives forever. As we commission this group during worship, let us send them with our love and our prayers. Let us pray for safe travels, open hearts, deep conversations, and moments of holy surprise. May the Spirit move among them and within them, and may they return home refreshed, inspired, and full of stories to share. Let us also remember to welcome them back with open arms and listening ears. Their experience is a part of our shared journey as a congregation. Prayer for the Journey: Loving God, we thank You for each youth and adult traveling to Montreat. Surround them with Your protection. Fill them with Your Spirit. Let them find joy in community, strength in worship, and truth in Your Word. May they return home renewed and ready to share the light of Christ. Amen. Please join us this Sunday as we pray over our group and send them off with the love and support of our whole church family. May this week be a sacred chapter in their story of faith. |

Prayers for Our ASP Volunteers This week, a dedicated group of youth and adults from our congregation are heading to Spruce Pine, NC, to volunteer with Appalachia Service Project (ASP). As they travel to serve those in need, we ask for your prayers for their safety, strength, and hearts full of compassion. Our ASP volunteers include: Youth: James Penrod, Makenzie Venable Adults: Ashley Venable, Jerry Cecil, Jim Penrod, Jared Penrod
This Sunday during worship, we will commission them as they embark on this mission trip. Let us gather as a church family to send them with our love, prayers, and support. May God’s guidance and protection be with them as they work to make homes warmer, safer, and drier for families in Appalachia. We pray that their hearts are filled with compassion and that this week of service deepens their faith and strengthens the bonds of our community. Please join us in lifting them up during worship and throughout their journey. Let’s also pray for their safe travels and for God’s presence to be with them in every step of the way.
