 Pastor Bryan out of office Thursday - Sunday

 

Pastor Bryan will attend his 40th college reunion next weekend at Maryville College in Tennessee. Rev. Frank Dew will preach THIS Sunday, 10/22/23 while Bryan is out of town.

Greetings CIC! One thing that makes the work of the Stewardship Committee a pleasure is the level of commitment of the members of our Community in Christ. When pledges are made, they are consistently fulfilled. Please take a moment to see where you are in meeting your pledge for 2023. We do not currently create giving statements as we have in the past, but if you cannot determine from your own records where you are with your pledge, please reach out to our treasurer, Jordan Morris. Jordan's email address is below. Remember that Jordan is the only person in the church with knowledge of pledges and year to date giving. As we move into fall, if you have been busy and let your pledge fall behind a bit, thank you for catching it up. This allows us to end 2023 on a positive note and move smoothly into planning for 2024.

Veterans Sunday

We will recognize our veterans and active duty military with a Tree of Valor in the narthex for Veterans Sunday on November 12, 2023. Please email photographs for CIC’s Tree of Valor to Keven Cockrell at keven1@bellsouth.net by November 6 so that we might acknowledge loved ones who have served our nation. Many thanks!

2023 CROP Hunger Walk

 

You may still make a donation in honor of Jo McGuire’s 97th birthday to the CROP Hunger Walk. Please write a check to CIC with “CROP Walk” in the memo line or put your cash donation in an envelope marked “CROP Walk.” The deadline for donations is Tuesday, October 31. Thank you very much to everyone who walked and/or donated to the CROP Hunger Walk to help feed our neighbors in need!

Help Save Lives! Red Cross Blood Drive at CIC

Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m.

 Every day more than 10,000 patients rely on the generosity of blood donors to survive. There is no substitute for blood. It is precious, it is perishable, and the need for it is critical. You can put your faith into action when you give blood at CIC on Tuesday, October 24, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Remember to hydrate and eat iron-rich foods prior to the blood drive.   CIC Tidings Thursday, March 21, 2024 CIC sends deepest condolences to Jan Greene on the death of her husband Harlen Greene after a courageous battle with cancer. Let's keep Jan and her family on our hearts and lifted in prayer.   Any change to CIC’s Endowment Resolution requires a vote of the congregation. To that end, an Information Session will be held after worship on Sunday 4/21 with the Congregational Vote to occur after worship on Sunday 5/05. Packets of the edited document (which has been approved by Session) are available  in print form at CIC in the narthex. Please lift Sherry Jensen and the Jenkin's Family in love and prayer on the death of her father, Gary Jenkins, who passed away unexpectedly on March 19, 2024. CIC TIDINGS Thursday, June 29, 2023 Be a Hero! Food Drive for GUM At Hero Hotline, we will learn that God calls us to help others. Our VBS mission project is to collect food for our neighbors in need through Greensboro Urban Ministry. Please join our Heroes and bring non perishable food items for families who are experiencing hardship.  Thank you very much! Vacation Bible School Has a Place for Everyone!   CIC TIDINGS Thursday, July 27, 2023 CIC Calendar Thank you very much for filling the GUM Donation Cave! We greatly appreciate your generous support of our food collection for Greensboro Urban Ministry! The total donation for July was 726 pounds of nonperishable food items, which will bless many people who are food insecure in our community. Food insecurity is a lack of consistent access to enough food for every person in a household to live an active, healthy life. Our next GUM Drive-Thru will be on Sunday, September 10 , after the worship service until noon. ALL COMMUNITIES MEETING 6pm - Monday, August 14, 2023 Members of ALL THREE Communities (Life, Outreach, and Stewardship) PLUS other CIC members are invited to meet together on Monday, August 14, 2023 at 6pm . CIC TIDINGS Thursday, November 02, 2023 November Newsletter This Sunday is our Pennies for Hunger and Food for GUM collection day! These wonderful ministries not only feed the hungry, but also teach our children generosity, compassion, and joy in giving. CIC children will collect Pennies for Hunger during the worship service on November 5 so please bring your coins! You may also bring food donations to the GUM Drive-Thru after the worship service until noon . Thank you for helping those who need it most!   CIC Tidings Thursday, January 04, 2024 May your troubles be less, and your blessings be more. And nothing but happiness come through your door. Please help with the “ un-decorating ” of CIC after the worship service this Sunday, January 7. Second Hour will resume on January 14! I offer profound and numerous thanks to all of you for your words of comfort at the death of my mother, Jean McFarland. Not only did she hear me/us during the livestream of the Christmas Eve Candlelight service, but my brother, Kent served her communion that night before she transitioned in the early evening of Christmas Day! Truly comfort and joy amidst the sorrow of her passing. Her obituary is HERE .
